Convent Place is a small lane off Lower Hatch Street, and it offers a hidden shortcut to Earlfort Terrace through the business centre complex. It’s not a huge distance to go the long way via Hatch Street or Leeson Street, sure, but nothing beats a secret route and it’s quite satisfying to find yourself suddenly in the landscaped plaza opposite the National Concert Hall.

At the Lower Hatch Street end, there’s an older example of Dublin’s current street signs kept company by a much older, rusted one in English only, as well as a stern, beautiful warning against dumping.
