Before the area’s transformation in the 90s, Temple Bar had a number of small businesses – crafts and trades, making and fixing – as well as artists, musicians and surface car parks.
I was drawn to John J Cooke for the shopfront, but the jeweller and silversmiths shop has been open in the area since 1951, so it has significance as one of the businesses that weathered the changes. It’s neat and well-maintained, with crisp timber letters painted white, sitting on a very bright blue background. The small, light ampersand is just gorgeous.
